January 3rd marked the 22nd birthday of the first tattoo I made during my apprenticeship!
I love to return to work on this day as it was such a monumental moment that I had no idea how much would change my life and allow so many dreams come true.
The past few months I have been a bit quiet on social media as I have been honouring the recovering from two surgeries process. I’m stoked it’s all over, but I am also in that place where it feels weird to not have all the specialist appointments and treatments to constantly show up for.
So to update those that check in on this blog, I am pleased to say that when it comes to my tattoo bookings, I have been mindfully booking my hours to compliment recovery. Thank you to all my beautiful clients for allowing me to casually go with the flow of ongoing work and taking on pieces that work around my schedule/demand.
My healing is still ongoing and come March, I will have reached my 6 month point post last surgery. All going smoothly, I should be discharged from the things needed to be done since my mastectomy in 2022. Come March, I feel that I will then have a clearer view of my schedule and what I want to achieve this year.
As for tattoo designs,I have been thoroughly enjoying taking on smaller requests and splitting larger pieces into multiple sessions to reach my client’s needs. Please know that I am always evolving as a creative and though I like to try all the things, I am really finding that slowing down and not forcing pieces to be complete in one shot is so very important for the longevity of this craft. I encourage all my clients to take their time and not feel the pressure of the one hit hustle! That being said, this month has some amazingly fun projects for me to tackle!
I have continued to do loom weaving and will casually be working on trying to complete my current project before I start a new course in Scuplture Ceramics next month! I love love love learning new ways to create and strengthening other areas I haven’t had access to until now.
