Preparing for Your Tattoo Appointment

Preparing for your next tattoo is just as important as healing it. This page breaks down basic do’s and don’ts leading up to your tattoo appointment.

To help your appointment go smoothly and ensure the best possible healing and results,

please review the following before your session:

• Eat a good meal beforehand. Have a balanced meal before your appointment to help

maintain blood sugar levels and prevent lightheadedness.

• Stay well hydrated. Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your

appointment.

• Get Adequate Rest: Ensure you get a good night's sleep to help manage pain and stress.

• Avoid alcohol and blood thinners. Please avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your

appointment. If possible, also avoid blood thinning medications such as aspirin (unless

prescribed by your doctor).

• Wear comfortable clothing. Loose clothing is best. Please be mindful that this is art and somethigmes art can find its way onto our clothing during the process. Make sure you wear clothing that isn;t too precious in case such things happen.

• Moisturise the area beforehand. Keep the skin moisturised in the days leading up to

your appointment unless advised otherwise.

• Avoid heavy workouts beforehand. Intense exercise right before your session may

increase circulation and sensitivity.

• Plan for a relaxed day afterward. Avoid strenuous activity so your body can begin

healing.

• Notify me of any skin changes. If you experience irritation, rashes, illness, or skin

breakdown before your appointment, please let me know.

• Avoid skin damage. No tanning, fake tanning, sunburns, chemical peels, major cuts,

or abrasions on the area within one month of your session. Skin that is still healing does

not support pigment retention in new tattoos - the area must be fully healed before we

can begin.
